Bikefix: Art and Fitness
ART: Bikefix is located on a commercial zoned block within a densely populated suburban neighborhood, its average housing stock dating to around the beginning of the 20th Century. The shop, with its warehouse like appearance and loft is an unlikely, yet perfect spot for hosting parties and exhibiting artwork. Bikefix’ first gallery event was in May of 2008, featuring the paintings, illustrations, animation and music of Joe Fournier. Over three hundred attended, much artwork was sold, and it was necessary to go out midway into to evening to procure more liquid refreshments. To see Joe’s work please visit www.joefournierstudios.com In September of 2008, the second show was held, featuring the work of ten area women artists. Equally successful as the first, this show brought even wider attention to the artists, and paved the way for future possibilities. _ _ _ FITNESS: Starting in December of 2008, Bikefix is hosting a Wednesday night cycle training class. Under the leadership of Giulia Isetti, Ph.D., an ACE certified personal trainer and USA Cycling Coach, riders, bring in their own bicycle and trainers, are being put through the paces which will lead them all to higher goals and increased levels of fitness come the spring of 2009. For more information on these classes please contact Giulia at g.isetti@comcast.net. See this recent article on the class hosted at Bikefix. / / |
